The bovine tuberculosis event continues to play out. The most up to date and confirmed information can be found by going to our home page and clicking on the link to CFIA’s update page. It is a long process to get the nearly 50 affected herds tested and those tests analysed. As those tests are analysed, the information from them will dictate the next phases of the investigation. It is difficult to let something unfold which takes this kind of time. That has not stopped some people from filling in blanks with other information.
The SCA encourages people to check the website before believing the latest tidbit of information. The priority for CFIA is to find all the animals that this case leads to and be sure to get them out of the national herd so we can maintain our TB free status. This is a tough time for anyone involved in this investigation. Tough decisions are being made, often by other people about herds and livelihoods. SCA encourages anyone facing stress from this or any other situation to reach out for help through challenging times.
